I have a 9 month old female chihuahua who is very tiny (2.5 lbs). She has a very bad heart murmur so the vet is weary about putting her under anesthesia so he can spay her. She can’t breed because she is too small, I can’t spay her, and I have no clue how to care for such a small thing when she goes into heat. A friend advised me to put preemie diapers on her and clip it to a harness but I’d like some more insight. Thanks for your time!
I’d like to add that I do have a male chihuahua who is almost 1 year old. I guess when I’m not home I’ll have to keep her and him in seperate bedrooms. So far I’ve never seen them go at it but I’m sure all that will change with time..
The laser spaying might be an option, I have to look into it. But I’ve gotten three different opinions and had a $600 sonogram of her heart done. All 3 vets say no for the anesthesia. Thanks for everyone’s help so far!
